Seven Candidates Seek Four Pound Ridge Library Board Seats

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Four Pound Ridge Library Board of Trustees seats are up for votes on Tuesday, with seven candidates running.

The candidates are Lisa Smith, Richard De Palma, Lena Nurenberg, Stacey Cleveland, Terry Gottlieb, Erin Joslyn and Melanie Urick Baschkin.

The library has provided biographies of the candidates on its website, which are available here.

Baschkin's biography shows that she formerly worked in financial services. It also shows that she has volunteered for The Metro New York North Red Cross, Norwalk's Maritime Aquarium and Greenwich Hospital.

De Palma's biography shows that he is an attorney with 25 years of experience in client advice, as well as an artist. It also notes that he is the parent of children who attend Pound Ridge Elementary School, Fox Lane Middle School and Fox Lane High School.

Gottlieb's biography shows that she has served as a senior trial attorney in the Bronx District Attorney's Office and that her two daughters have participated in the  Pound Ridge Swim and Dive  Team.

Cleveland's biography shows that she is a trained physician's assistant, formerly served as co-president of Pound Ridge Elementary School's PTA and served as treasurer and secretary for the Society for Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants. 

Joslyn's biography shows that she worked as a script editor, screenwriter and owned small businesses. Her involvement in the elementary school and middle school is also noted.

Smith's biography mentions that she is an attorney with White Plains law firm Zarin & Steinmetz and that her volunteering has included roles with Bedford Youth Lacrosse and serving as a leader for her daughter's Girl Scout troop.

Nurenberg's biography notes that she grew up in Pound Ridge and volunteered at the library when it was still named for Hiram Halle. It also mentioned that she was a Pre-K teacher and is the mother of an incoming kindergarten student and a pre-school student.

Voting for the board seats is scheduled on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the library, 271 Westchester Ave. Additionally, there is voting for the library's proposed 2015 budget. Daily Voice's budget overview story can be read here.
