Saw Mill River Parkway Reopens, Route 9, I-287 Accidents Tie Up Traffic

This story has been updated.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A stretch of the Saw Mill River Parkway in Greenburgh has reopened after an overturned vehicle resulted in its closure in both directions on Wednesday morning.

The incident, reported at 6:55 a.m., occurred just south of the I-87 interchange, near Mountain Road.

A multi-vehicle accident has also been reported on northbound Route 9 between Welcher Avenue and Louisa Street in Peekskill. The incident occurred at 8:10 a.m.

An accident was also reported on eastbound I-287 at Exit 4 (Route 100A) at 8:15 a.m.

A dense fog advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Motorists are urged to use caution, use low-beam headlights and allow plenty of distance between vehicles while traveling due to dramatically reduced visibility of one-quarter mile or less at times, especially in higher elevations and near bodies of water.
