NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Some riders on the New Canaan Branch of Metro-North Railroad should be prepared to take the bus for the next four weeks as repairs are made to the tracks.

Buses will run along the New Canaan branch in weekday off-peak hours starting Monday as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority replaces 5,800 wooden railroad ties as part of a regular cyclical maintenance program, the MTA announced Wednesday.

Buses will be provided beginning with the 9:07 a.m. train from Stamford and will continue through the 3:28 p.m. train from New Canaan. Train service will resume with the 3:58 p.m. train from Stamford. No track work will be performed on weekends.

The project is expected to conclude Oct. 5.
