WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Westchester Library System is looking to change they way people access and use the services and resources of its 38 member libraries through a video public service campaign.
“The library of today is about connecting people to resources from their homes, their businesses or while they're on the go," said Terry Kirchner, executive director, Westchester Library System.
"A laptop, smartphone or tablet gives you access to our amazing online resources and extensive collection of books, music, data and information. All of our libraries have free Wi-Fi access, free access to computers and an array of services and programs that keeps you connected. Our mission is to get the word out about the services we offer and how easily you can access them today."
WLS brought in New York Emmy-nominated TV producer Bill Powers and his firm, Powers PR Video, to produce a series of four public service announcements to promote technology-based access to books, music, data and information. The Digital Arts Experience in White Plains donated studio time to WLS for Powers and New York Emmy-nominated videographer/editor Douglas Nash Jr. to shoot the PSAs on a green screen.
“The target audience was quite broad -- anyone who lives or works in Westchester County -- and the goal was to demonstrate how Westchester residents of all ages and employees and employers could connect with the library in so many new and exciting ways. Everyone is on the go, and to be able to access the library's resources on a portable device just makes life easier,” said Powers.
The PSAs will be shown on cable TV and social media outlets, and are available here.
Access to the libraries' services and resources is free to library card holders. Cards can be obtained at any member library. Library cards are available to people who live or work in Westchester.
