Pound Ridge Will See Wintry Mix Overnight

A wintry mix is expected to affect the area, especially points farthest north and west, from Friday evening through Saturday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for 7 p.m. Friday through 10 a.m. Saturday for Putnam and Orange counties with the potential for some light freezing rain or light freezing drizzle, according to the National Weather Service. 

"Even though we are only forecasting ice amounts around a trace, this is enough to cause icy spots on roads and walkways and could make travel difficult," the National Weather Service said in a statement. "Use caution if you are planning to travel in these areas tonight into Saturday morning."

The advisory could be widened throughout the area or upgraded to an alert during the day Friday. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Points north of I-287 will see freezing drizzle that is expected to start late Friday evening, followed by areas of snow, freezing drizzle and sleet between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Saturday, followed by areas of drizzle, snow, and sleet after 3 a.m. before the system winds down sometime around dawn.

Areas south of I-287 will see a wintry mix of drizzle, snow and sleet after 2 a.m. Saturdaywith a low hovering around the freezing mark. 

There will be a chance of light rain during the day Saturday, with the high reaching between 42 and 45 degrees.
