POUND RIDGE, N.Y. The Town of Pound Ridge swore in its newly elected officials at a small inauguration ceremony in front of friends and family at the Town House on New Years Day.
Town Justice Ed Hand swore in Supervisor Gary Warshauer, Town Council member Richard Lyman, Town Justice Regina Kelly and Town Clerk Joanne Pace. Newly elected Council member Ali Boak was on vacation and unable to attend the ceremony. She will be sworn in by Pace later this week.
Pace said the swearing in of newly elected officials on New Years Day is a long-standing Pound Ridge tradition.
Warshaurer was being inaugurated to his fifth term as supervisor, but having spent two terms as a member of town council, Sundays event was his seventh straight swearing-in ceremony. He said it never gets old.
The inauguration is pretty special, he said. I very much enjoy being involved in the activities of the town. The town board is terrific and it feels good to be part of it.
Lyman was surrounded by family members including his brother from Massachusetts and his mother and sister who had flown in from southern California.
Its been fun, he said. Having my family here has made a very special day.
