Pound Ridge Supervisor: Expect Power Outages

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge Supervisor Gary Warshauer said in statement Friday that town residents should be prepared to be without power for several days as a result of Hurricane Irene.

“We expect high winds and heavy rain up to 10 inches continuing into Sunday evening,” he said. “It is likely that this storm will result in local flooding, downed trees and power lines. Residents should be prepared to be without power from Saturday evening through Tuesday.”

Warshauer said for general information during or after the storm, residents should call the police department at (914) 764-4206.

“We have activated our Town Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and have the resources of our police department, highway department, maintenance department, fire department, ambulance corps and Resident Volunteer Corps ready to work during and after the storm,” he said.

The supervisor cautioned residents to avoid any unnecessary travel during the storm and to be patient after it is over. He asked that the OEM and NYSEG be given time to safely clear trees and restore power.
