POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge residents will soon have a chance to adopt a streetlight along Westchester Avenue in the Scotts Corners Business District, according to a press release.
The Green Streets Committee, a joint volunteer project between the Pound Ridge Business Association and Pound Ridge Partnership, will put flyers in residents’ mailboxes this week.
The program is based on a similar endeavor in New Canaan, Ct. Residents can purchase an engraved brass plaque, which will be attached to the streetlights, to honor a loved one or other entity.
“The streetlights will be adopted on a first come, first-serve basis as there are only twenty-one plaques available in this first phase,” said Ali Boak, Green Streets Committee Member and founding member of the Pound Ridge Partnership. “Each plaque can accommodate five lines of text with sixteen characters per line. One can adopt their own street light or band together in groups, with each group receiving a line of the text.”
The Green Street Committee will arrange for a person or organization to purchase one line on a plaque with others for those who want to participate as part of a group but cannot assemble one. The cost per line is $1,000.
