POUND RIDGE, N.Y. Pound Ridge police arrested two Lewisboro men Friday and charged them an array of misdemeanors stemming from the alleged theft of a checkbook from a parked car in the Lewisboro hamlet of Vista.
Matthew M. Hollwedel, 22, of Lewisboro, was charged with two counts of forgery in the third degree, one count of criminal possession of stolen property and one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument. Sean Rubino, 20, also of Lewisboro, was charged with one count of criminal possession of stolen property and one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument. All charges are class A misdemeanors.
Pound Ridge police said they received a call from a Pound Ridge business, whose proprietor said a number of bad checks had been passed at the retail location the past several weeks. The subsequent investigation revealed two of checks were from a checkbook that was stolen from a vehicle parked in Vista. Police conducted interviews and were able to identify two of the suspects who allegedly passed the stolen checks at the Pound Ridge retail business. They were contacted and came to the police station for questioning March 19, police said.
Upon completion of the investigation, the suspects surrendered to Pound Ridge police Friday. They were processed and released on their own recognizance and are due back in justice court April 16.
