Pound Ridge Planning Board Approves Deli Permit

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – The Pound Ridge Planning Board has approved a special use permit that will allow plans for a new delicatessen in Scotts Corners to move forward.

The applicants, Toni and Michael Cummaro, plan to take over the location occupied by Panella’s Deli at 78 Westchester Ave. in Scott’s Corners. Panella’s closed its doors in January.

The Cummaros, who live in Stamford, Conn., must now go before the town board at its Thursday night meeting for final approval. The Town Board already indicated at its February meeting that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, would green light the deli once the planning board gave its approval. The business, which will be known as The Pound Ridge Deli, could technically open the following day if the Cummaros were ready.

In other planning board news:

  • An application for residential site plan review to construct a 285-square-foot unheated children’s' cabin on the Brountas property on Fancher Road has been deferred to the board’s March meeting when it is likely to be approved. The cabin would exceed the maximum building and lot coverage thresholds for an R-2A zoning district. The applicants fulfilled a request to move the cabin away from DEC wetlands and agreed to the Pound Ridge Water Control Commission to take the structure down after 10 years.
  • The board approved a residential site plan to construct a screened porch and mudroom addition to the existing Wong home on Stone Hill Road that would exceed the maximum lot coverage threshold for an R-3A zoning district.
  • The board scheduled a public hearing for March 22 for an application to create a two-lot subdivision for an 11.4 acre parcel of land on the London property located on Stone Hill Road. The first lot would consist of 5 acres and contain an existing cottage. The second lot would consist of 6.4 acres and contain an existing residence and a cottage. No further development is proposed. The property is in an R-3A zoning district.
