Pastor Lori Miller from the Pound Ridge Community Church alluded to the passage of time and how the memory can be blocked.
“But I think it’s important that we remember,” she said.
Miller, who gave the memorial service’s benediction, also discussed remembrance of victims of people who put themselves in harm’s way.
Rev. Joseph Domfeh Boateng, who is with St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Bedford Village, gave the invocation at the ceremony. Speaking in an interview afterward, he said that the “temptation is to forget what happened.”
Boateng also noted that “the question that we need to ask is what can I individually do to enhance, to promote peace.”
