Pound Ridge Officials: Stay Off Roads, Watch Your Dogs

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – As Hurricane Sandy moves closer to landfall sometime on Monday, Pound Ridge officials warn residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to keep an eye on their dogs.

“Stay off the roads in times of severe weather,” said Lt. James (Sam) Dodge III, district manager for the Pound Ridge Fire Department. “If there are cars blocking the roadway when we are responding to emergencies, those hindering our passage are jeopardizing those in need. In extreme cases, that could cause loss of life.”

Joan Dooley, dog control officer for Lewisboro and Pound Ridge, is alerting dog owners with invisible fences that when the power goes off the fences cease to work.

“Please keep this in mind and be certain that your dog is wearing a tag with an address and phone number in the event they do escape,” she said.
