Pound Ridge Man Arrested on Eight Burglary Counts

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – A Pound Ridge man was arrested and charged with eight counts of second-degree burglary by the New York State Police in Somers in conjunction with the Pound Ridge Police Department.

Eugene Frangella, 26, of 186 Westchester Ave., was arrested when a residential alarm activated at a home on Horseshoe Hill Road, police said. A neighbor, whose home was burglarized within the past month, heard the alarm and saw a man leave the residence and enter an adjacent wooded area. The witness was able to provide a description to the police.

The witness later positively identified the suspect as Frangella.

During the past four to six weeks police said there have been numerous residential burglaries, most of which have occurred during daytime hours and on weekdays, in Pound Ridge. Forced entry was used in several of the burglaries and some involved unsecured residences. Criminal activity during the burglaries was normally restricted to the bedroom area and jewelry was usually stolen, police said. The investigations were conducted jointly between the State Police and Pound Ridge Police Department.

Frangella admitted to investigating officers that he has been committing burglaries in the Pound Ridge area, police said. He was connected to at least five homes in the area that were burglarized, three of which he returned to and burglarized a second time, police said. Some proceeds of the burglaries were recovered at the time of Frangella’s arrest.
