POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Julie Thomas Goggin has agreed to replace her late husband, David, as a member of the Pound Ridge Library Foundation. David Goggin died unexpectedly in February at the age of 42, not long after he had undertaken the role of foundation member.

“[David] was on track to become the next president of the foundation,” said current president, Jon Posner. “The foundation members were thrilled to learn that David’s wife, Julie, was ready and willing to carry on his vision.”

Julie Goggin, an attorney by training, is the mother of two Pound Ridge Elementary School pupils: Evan, 11 and Charlie, 7. She has said that she “loves books, libraries and little cafes where intellectual discourse is the point, and of course, I am delighted to continue David’s work. I hope to be of good service to the town and its young people in the process.”

The primary goal of the Pound Ridge Library Foundation is to raise funds for the capital campaign to expand the library building. The current building is an antique restoration donated to the town by Hiram Halle in 1952. The foundation hopes to renovate the existing building and resolve physical issues within it.
