“We are working with NYSEG and we know all the addresses and are making sure they are fixed today,” said Deputy Supervisor John Powers.
Powers said some of those customers may have a “unique problem” if the wires between NYSEG utility poles and their homes are damaged. Restoration for those residents may take a little longer.
“That needs to be taken care of by the homeowner,” he said. “But we are checking on each one, and it should be under control by the end of the day.”
Powers said the homes without power are not clustered together, but scattered about town.
“We just brought six online on Trinity Pass, which is a fairly major road for Pound Ridge,” he said. “We still have a couple on High Ridge, South Bedford, and Stone Hill and few others.”
Powers said outages in Pound Ridge have more dire implications than in many other communities.
“When you are out of power in Pound Ridge you are out of water, too,” he said. “Everyone in Pound Ridge has wells that use pumps that run on electricity. You can deal being without heat and lights because you can always throw on a few extra blankets, but water is a different problem. When we talk power outages in Pound Ridge, it’s quite significant. People have been without power for over a week, and that’s been kind of tough.”
Powers said many residents are still without land-line phone, cable and Internet service.
“I don’t have the specifics, but there are places where phone and cable and Internet are still out,” he said. “Verizon is working to bring it up as quickly as possible. If people are still without service, they need to call their carrier.”
