Pound Ridge Firefighters Invite Public To Open House

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Kids and adults alike can enjoy a day of fun while learning about fire safety during the Pound Ridge Volunteer Fire Department's annual Public Safety Open House on Saturday.

The event, which draws of dozens of residents, will run from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at 80 Westchester Ave. and include guided tours of the station, hands-on activities, a chance to check out the firetrucks and plenty of fire safety information.

Visitors will also have a chance to learn about the department’s history while viewing the many artifacts on display, including the original fire pumper and learn the safe and effective way to use fire extinguishers with a fire extinguisher simulator. Sparky the Fire Dog might even make an appearance.
