POUND RIDGE, N.Y. Pound Ridge police investigated a possible identity theft attempt this week when a Fancher Road resident received a suspicious phone call.
Police say the resident received a call on Monday asking them to verify their address and social security number. The resident balked and no information was given out. Police checked the phone number and determined it was part of a scam.
Officers advised the victim to put a fraud alert on all accounts and to contact and advise their financial institutions.

JAN. 17
Police received a call for a lost dog described as a golden retriever in the Long Ridge Road area. Police patrolled the area but there was no sign of the dog.
Police were called to Westchester Avenue on the report of a disabled school bus. A second bus was sent to pick up the students and police report there were no other problems.
JAN. 18
A report of a suspicious vehicle on Highcliff Terrace was called in. Officers found a car parked on the side of the road and did a DMV check and attempted to contact the owner. The car was eventually towed.
JAN. 19
Police were informed of an injured deer on the side of Salem Road. Officers dispatched the deer and the Wolf Conservation Center was notified and picked up the deer.
Police received a complaint of money being stolen from a purse from a resident on Pound Ridge Road. The incident is under investigation.
JAN. 20
Police responded to a two-car accident on Westchester Avenue. Both drivers refused medical attention. One of the cars was towed.
JAN. 21
Police responded to a fire call at a house on Upper Shad Road. The Pound Ridge Fire Department was on the scene. Kindling wood next to the fireplace had caught fire and it was extinguished.
JAN. 23
Police issued a traffic summons to a motorist on Westchester Avenue for an uninspected motor vehicle.
