Pound Ridge 9/11 Memorial Event Includes Remembrance

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- On an overcast Thursday morning, folks gathered at Sachs Park for Pound Ridge’s memorial ceremony for the 13th anniversary of 9/11.

The ceremony, attended by town, state and county officials, included three firing rounds from Pound Ridge firefighters, a playing of taps and words from local religious figures.

Rev. Joseph Domfeh Boateng from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Bedford Village gave the ceremony’s invocation. He noted praying for victims and people who died defending freedom.

Pound Ridge Jewish Community member Ruth Mendes warned about barbarism and called for decisive action against brutality, warning against a lack of it.

Pastor Lori Miller from the Pound Ridge Community Church delivered the ceremony’s benediction, mentioning people who were protecting others who gave their lives and people who seek peace.
