Northern Westchester Hospital earned the five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, who introduced its new five-star “Patient Experience” rating system as part of its HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey of hospital patient treatment experience.

This national survey asks patients about their experiences during a recent hospital stay. Northern Westchester Hospital's most current survey results from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 can be reviewed online here.

“We are firmly committed to providing patient-centered care—striving to meet all of the patient’s needs, not just their medical requirements," said Joel Seligman, president and CEO of Northern Westchester Hospital.  "To meet their expectations, we have established a culture of continuous improvement that drives each of us to reach for a higher level of care for our patients. To accomplish this, we analyze and re-invent processes to improve the care we deliver for our patients, ensuring that each process is consistent, reproducible, and patient-centered.”

Lauraine Szekely, chief nursing officer at Northern Westchester Hosptial comments on the quality care at the hospital.

“At Northern Westchester Hospital, we put patients first,” stated Lauraine Szekely, chief nursing officer at Northern Westchester Hospital.  “Our staff empowers patients and their families in the care process by encouraging them to be active participants in their medical care.  Delivering high quality, patient centered care is a standard that our patients have come to expect from Northern Westchester Hospital.”
