More Than 200 Cars Displayed at Pound Ridge Car Show

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – The victim of two rain postponements, the Pound Ridge Police Benevolent Association’s 9th Annual Tom Pisco Memorial Car Show finally got a chance to rev its motors on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Under clear blue skies with temperatures pushing in to the high 70s, more than 200 classic automobiles lined the athletic fields of Town Park as car fans poured in and filled the parking lot.

“We have a little more than 200 cars, a little less than last year, but considering the weather and postponement that we’ve had, that’s pretty good,” said Mike Armistead, a car show committee member. “Attendance is good. When I look out there, all I see is heads.”

The annual show is named after Tom Pisco, a Pound Ridge police officer and car aficionado who passed away from cancer several years ago.

“He was involved in a lot of these car shows,” said Billy Fortin, another car show committee member and owner of Scotts Corner Market. “The show was named in his honor and this year the show’s theme is Mustangs. He was a Mustang guy.”

Fortin said show organizers create a different car theme for the show every year. Last year it was Corvettes and the year before it was Dodge Vipers.

“But it’s not just those cars – every year we get a very diverse group,” he said.

The funds raised by the car show go to various PBA charities, such as college scholarships, the Pound Ridge Library, the Jimmy Fund, and the Lions Club. Fortin said over the last years, $80,000 has been raised.

There is no entry fee for the show, so much of the money is raised by trophy sponsorships, food sales, raffles and a silent auction.

Bobby and Darlene Snadowsky, a husband and wife team from Pound Ridge who own Auto King Sales, were on hand to display seven cars. Also members of the car show committee, Bobby Snadowsky said he wasn’t there to take any trophies, just to show off his cars, two which included a 1966 custom Corvette and a 1969 Camaro SS 350.

Dennis and Janet Madonin brought their 1965 Ford T-Bird up from Yonkers to make their third appearance at the show.

“We really like this show – there’s a lot of nice cars here,” Dennis Madonin said. “We see a lot of different cars here that we don’t see at the shows down by us – foreign cars like MGs, Triumphs and Austin Healys.”

The prizes for the silent auction were donated by local businesses and residents. One of the top prizes was a week’s stay at a $5000-a-week rental in Florida that sleeps 14 people.
