POUND RIDGE, N.Y. A family of five was escorted safely out of Ward Pound Ridge Reservation Friday evening by police after they were reported lost.
Shortly before 7 p.m., the Pound Ridge Police, Pound Ridge Fire Department and the Westchester County Police were called to the reservation to search for the family that was lost on a hiking trail known as the Red Trail.
The fire department deployed its gator vehicle a six-wheel drive vehicle made for wild land searches in rough terrain, but never got the opportunity to use it.
It was really a non-issue, said Jim Perry, a member of the Pound Ridge Fire Department and director of the towns office of emergency management. The Lewisboro Police found the people quickly and walked them out. The only real concern was that it was dark. But we got our vehicle on the trail and a minute later they came walking out.
Perry said the family was unharmed and needed no medical attention.
