John Jay High School Principal John Goetz is expected to be appointed interim school superintendent for the Katonah-Lewisboro School District for the 2014-2015 school year.

The former School Superintendent Paul Kreutzer resigned in January and was replaced by Assistant Superintendent for Business Michael Jumper, who is the current interim school superintendent.

Goetz has been principal at John Jay for the last two years, and has served as school superintendent at Brookfield Public Schools and then interim superintendent of Monroe Public Schools, both of which are in Connecticut.

“I appreciate the (school) board’s confidence and will do all I can to make the leadership and building transitions as smooth as possible,” he said. “I work with a great staff (at John Jay High School and within Central Administration) that I respect and hold in high esteem for their commitment to the district.”

The school board is expected to appoint Goetz school superintendent at its March 13 meeting.

Replacing Goetz as John Jay principal will be the Katonah Elementary School Principal Jessica Godin, a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Arts Degree from Stony Brook University, as well as an Ed. S (Education Specialist) Degree from the University of Northern Colorado.

“I have spent a significant amount of my career working in high schools both in New York and Colorado and I welcome the opportunity to return to the high school setting,” she said.

Filling Godin’s position will be the Lewisboro Elementary School Principal Cristy Harris, who has been a member of the district’s administrative team for 10 years.

Lewisboro Elementary will close in the fall, after the school board voted Jan. 23 to close it due to declining enrollment and increasing costs.

Harris previously served as principal for Katonah Elementary, where she went to school as a child. Mrs. Cristy Harris, who has been a member of the district’s administrative team for 10 years and is currently the principal of Lewisboro Elementary School, will become the principal of Katonah Elementary School.

“I have many fond memories of my time at (Katonah Elementary School) and I am looking forward to my return,” Harris said.
