Child, Adult Attacked By Pit Bull At Pound Ridge Fire House

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- A child and an adult were attacked by a pit bull during a Memorial Day celebration at the Pound Ridge Fire Department, Pound Ridge Police Chief David Ryan said on Tuesday following a recently completed investigation into the attack.

The investigation found a rescued pit bull, who was being watched by an individual at the celebration, bit the child and an adult who tried to intervene.

The victims received immediate care at the fire station and the dog was put down within a couple of days, he added. 

"The dog attacked the child out of the blue," Ryan said. "It was an unfortunate situation."

Both the child and the adult were bitten on the hands and arms.
