POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – The Ocampos family of Pound Ridge had an unexpected visitor Sunday afternoon when a black bear wandered into the backyard of their Long Ridge Road residence.
Gabriel Ocampos said they observed the bear from inside their home, which is two houses up from Upper Shad Road.
“He went to the backyard, and while attempting to drink some water from the lake while standing on a rock, he fell in,” Ocampos said. “This soon led to a quick swim, which he seemed to enjoy considering he swam around for a little while.”
Ocampos said the bear eventually disappeared into the woods, but wanted to caution neighbors to be on the lookout for the uninvited critter and keep an eye on children and pets.
