POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Nearly 2,000 New York State Energy and Gas customers remained without power in Pound Ridge Monday morning, a week after Hurricane Sandy brought strong winds, rain and flooding to the area.

An estimated 1,928 out of 2,365 NYSEG customers were without power in Pound Ridge at 5:30 a.m. Monday, up from 1,775 Sunday morning.

The utility company reports an estimated 11,986 out of 32,524 NYSEG customers in Westchester were without power at 5:30 a.m. Monday, down from 16,960 Sunday morning.

“Our employees and contractors continue their excellent work to restore service and we appreciate our customers’ patience as our crews and support personnel work diligently. We’re grateful for their outstanding performance, often under difficult conditions,” said Mark Lynch, NYSEG president, in a press release. “Resources continue to be secured to further bolster our restoration efforts and we’re using these skilled individuals in an efficient manner to restore power safely, and as quickly as possible.”
