If you have been reading the local press the past few weeks, you probably have a good idea of how Ali Boak operates as numerous letter writers have pointed out. If not, here are three good reasons why she is not fit to be the next Town Supervisor.
Ms. Boak says that she will bring openness to our government and improve communications yet in the past two years she has been ignoring and hiding her obvious conflict of interest with her Town Board position and her Pound Ridge Partnership position. Ms. Boak said that if elected sSupervisor she would resign from the Partnership. Was she not elected to the Town Board two years ago? How does one only have a conflict if they are the Supervisor? Ms. Boak needs to resign from the Town Board, or the Partnership, now, as a conflict is a conflict. When I attended the Town Board meeting where the Deer Management Plan was up for re-approval, Ms. Boak voted no based on her opposition to killing any living thing. While she is free to have such a conviction, the majority of the town’s residents are strongly in favor of our forward-thinking deer management approach which has led to numerous other deer management programs in Westchester. If Ms. Boak is elected Supervisor, don’t expect her to represent the will of the people over her own agenda. At the Candidates Debate at the library last week (the same library that Ms. Boak’s campaign uses a three year old picture of) Ms. Boak could not explain to the audience what the Wick’s Law and prevailing wage requirements were. After making up an absolutely wrong answer, it was Mr. Lyman who had to provide the proper explanation. How can one expect to be Town Supervisor when they don’t even know the basic facts of something, the Community Center project, which they claim to be a failure on the part of the Town Board? And let’s not forget that her running mate, Mr. Paschkes, is the liaison to the Recreation Commission that had jurisdiction over that project. There are more reasons why Ali Boak is wrong for Pound Ridge (does anyone really believe that the TEP scheme is not a financial black hole?) but the above really highlight the qualities of the candidate that we do not want in office. As a sixty year plus resident of Pound Ridge, and tireless volunteer, Dick Lyman is an exceptional choice for Town Supervisor. He knows the facts and gets things done and does not go around patting himself on the back for it or have others pat him on the back while the cameras and webmasters click away. Dick Lyman and his team have earned my vote, and that of the rest of my family. If you want to do your part, and keep Pound Ridge on track and on budget, then vote for Dick and his team on Nov. 5.
