For this year’s gala, Paris reached out to Gino Martocci, executive vice president of M&T Bank, to be the community honoree, and then quickly found herself being recruited to co-chair the event along with her husband, Peter Hauspurg and Caryn and David Schechtman.

The gala will be held at Old Salem Farm in North Salem, on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 6:30 pm. Dr. Elisa E. Burns will be recognized as the physician honoree.

Paris, a Bedford resident, became involved with the hospital 15 years ago, first serving on the hospital's Foundation Board. As a longtime supporter of NWH, she is well-aware of the “leading-edge care provided by Northern Westchester Hospital,” and the importance of the funds generated at the gala, which ensures that the Hospital continues to have advanced technology, state-of-the art facilities and provides the highest quality patient-centered care.

As a trustee, not only has Paris been a powerhouse fundraiser for the Hospital, but she gives of her time, contributes her business expertise and is always introducing new friends to the hospital.

“Daun really gets it,” says Keeva Young-Wright, president of the NWH Foundation. “She is a triple threat, giving of her time, talent and treasure. She understands the power of community involvement and has been an extraordinary leader. This event will certainly be one of the Hospital’s best to date, and that is directly attributable to the energy that Daun and Caryn bring to any project they touch.”

“The event is a wonderful way to rally community support for Northern Westchester Hospital and to educate our guests about the Hospital’s mission,” said Paris.

Old Salem Farm provides a new dramatic backdrop for the gala and organically gave rise to this year’s theme: "Autumn in Arcadia."

“Arcadia is a bucolic, ideal place in nature, a perfect blend of vision, innovation, humanity, and excellence, which are the hallmarks of Northern Westchester Hospital,” Paris said.

Abigail Kirsch will cater the event with a focus on farm-to-table food, sourced as much as possible from the Hudson Valley region.

A farm-to-table menu was chosen because it reflects Northern Westchester Hospital’s "food is care" philosophy. NWH is committed to the belief that healthy food is a patient’s right and part of the healing process.

With this in mind, NWH also offers room service, providing patients the opportunity to request food that is tasty and healthy when they want it as opposed to predetermined mealtimes. “When you are ill, the ability to order food when you are actually able to eat it is pretty incredible,” said Paris.

Paris credits fellow co-chair Caryn Schechtman with assembling a strong team on the gala committee that has helped mobilize a broad base of participants among the various geographic, religious and economic groups that make up Northern Westchester.

Paris’ dedication to Northern Westchester Hospital is based in the realization “that at some point, all of us will have someone we care about who will need access to high-quality medical care. It is important to me to donate my time as well as financial support.”

Proceeds from this year’s gala will support new operating rooms for Northern Westchester Hospital.

“The community’s financial support is critical to help ensure that Northern Westchester Hospital has the resources it needs to continue investing in the latest technologies,” Paris said. “We are passionate about helping Northern Westchester Hospital remain at the forefront of modern healthcare.”

Tickets to the annual gala are available online.
