Dunlin Stathis of Katonah, an alumnus of Goldens Bridge Troop 154, is shown ice climbing at a Scout camp in the Adirondacks last February.
The ice climbing program held at the Summit High Adventure Base at Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation in Brant Lake focuses on basic techniques and prior experience was not required.
Stathis is an avid hiker and loves the outdoors, said his former Scoutmaster, Richard Perlman.
A graduate of John Jay High School, he nows attends Cornell University.
Calling him “a great kid,” Perlman said Stathis rebuilt a vegetable garden at a children’s daycare center for his Eagle Scout project.
“It was definitely really exciting,” Dunlin said of ice climbing in the Boy’s Life article.
“I thought I would have a good time, but I had such a good time,” he said.
