POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Actress and activist Susan Sarandon, a former Pound Ridge resident, was overwhelmed by the “heartbreaking” stories told by Syrian refugees as they arrived on the Greek island of Lesbos, according to her blog, “The Crossing,” which is published on the Huffington Post.
Sarandon's immersive reporting series chronicles the refugee crisis as it develops, according to the Huffington Post.
In her latest Huffington Post video, Sarandon holds a small refugee child as she talks about how it affected her to learn firsthand what it was like for mothers with their children and babies -- some as young as 5 days old -- to make the dangerous crossing and what they were leaving behind in their home countries.
