A Half-Foot Of Snow Drops On Pound Ridge So Far

“I left my office in White Plains around 10 a.m. since my driveway was already covered and by then impossible to get up,” said Scott Fernqvist, who lives in Scotts Corners. “I’d say we’ve got about 6 inches so far. My wife and I both got early dismissal [from work], although we are both working from home – at least until the power goes out.”

Fernqvist said his family is trying to turn the snowstorm into something positive.

“We like to use the snow as an outdoor fridge,” he said after placing several six-packs of beer and Chardonnay on the stone wall outside his home. “And our dog Elvis loves to run around in it. So far, so good.”

As of 4:30 p.m., NYSEG had no power outages in northern Westchester County. However, the National Weather Service says winds were expected to pick later Friday night to create blizzard-like conditions.
