Pound Ridge PBA Gears Up For 10th Annual Car Show

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – The Pound Ridge Police Benevolent Association will have its annual Officer Tom Pisco Memorial Pound Ridge Car Show Sept. 15, marking the event’s 10th anniversary.

The show quickly has become an iconic Pound Ridge event, attracting people from hundreds of miles away.

“We can’t believe it’s been 10 years already,” said PBA President Mike Armistead. “The first year, we had only 35 cars and it has grown to over 270 in recent years. We have expanded to over 40 classes and we awarded over 150 trophies at least year’s show making the Pound Ridge Car Show one of the best around.”

Organizers expect 1,500 to 2,000 car enthusiasts to attend the show, which is at Town Park on Westchester Avenue.

The association makes an effort to involve local businesses in the event as a way to help promote their companies while raising money for charity.

“The car show committee prepares around 300 goody bags each year for each registered car at the show,” Armistead said. “They include things like co-sponsor’s advertising items, our annual dash plaque, key chains, pens and coupons.”

The association also is encouraging Pound Ridge restaurants to have “car show specials” for after the show as a way to increase consumer traffic in the business district.

Armistead said the association needs merchants and Pound Ridge residents to help out by sponsoring trophies. The trophy will be engraved with the sponsor’s name and added to the car show’s online trophy sponsorship page with a link to each business’ website.

“In addition, we are looking for silent auction donations, such as gift certificates, vacation homes, tickets to sporting events, concerts or golf outings,” Armistead said. “Anyone who donates a gift for the silent auction will be listed on the website as well.”

During the past nine years, proceeds from the car show have helped the association donate more than $80,000 to local charities and organizations. This year’s proceeds will be used to support the 50th anniversary of the Pound Ridge Lions Club, as well as Northern Westchester Hospital.

The rain date for the show is Sept. 16.
