Joint Treatment At NWH Offers An Escape From Chronic Pain

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- For some people, chronic knee pain can put limitations on life. Leisurely summer walks, light exercise or even a flight of stairs may cause considerable pain and discomfort. Often times, those who suffer miss out by staying home and giving their knees a rest. After NWH's Dr. David Yasgur performed replacement joint surgery on both of Ira's knees, he was able to live pain-free for the first time in years.

This was the experience for Ira, who suffered from debilitating knee pain as he aged. Seeking relief, he decided to have double knee surgery with Dr. David Yasgur at Northern Westchester Hospital. Over the span of six months, Ira had reconstructive surgeries on both knees and couldn’t have been happier with the results.

"The first time I walked up a flight of stairs, going up was not a problem, but coming down was one of the most emotional things I've ever experienced," said Ira. "I didn't have pain when I stepped down with my new knees. I literally cried.”
