So proclaims W. R. Tish, longtime Katonah resident and managing editor of the wine/spirits trade magazine Beverage Media who develops corporate and private wine events via his website wineforall.com.

His picks for vinos of the Hallow-icious kind, all of which can be found locally:

  • Get in the holiday mood with sangria, which for those who don't know, comes from the Spanish word "sangre," meaning blood. For a nice bargain, try Eppa SupraFruta Sangria. Add chopped fruit or a few eyeballs and you're good to go. $11.99
  • Red is the color of the season so why not sip a vintage oozing with ripe fruit like Gnarly Head's Authentic Black, an inky Petite Sirah-based blend sourced from Lodi, Calif., and aged in oak for 12 months. $12
  • Ravenswood 2013 Besieged, a robust blend of Petite Sirah, Carignane, Zinfandel, Syrah, Barbera, Alicante Bouschet and Mourvedre, seems to be channeling Edgar Allen Poe; in other words, mysteriously good. $16.
  • There's a mystical nature to Apothic Dark, the Petite Sirah, Teroldego and Merlot blend inspired by "Apotheca," a mysterious place where wine was blended and stored in 13th century Europe. Grab it soon as it's a limited edition. $14.
  • For something wicked good, try Hobnob Wicked Red Blend, hailing from France,  which beckons with Grenache, Cabernet, Syrah and Pinot Noir. $10.
  • Get your wine spook on with Chile’s Casillero del Diablo Devil’s Collection, a red blend featuring Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. $15
  • For those who turn into pumpkins at midnight, there's Ménage à Trois Midnight, a flavorful combination of Merlot, Cabernet, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot. $14.
