During the course of the Nov. 13 experience, the scouts learned about local plants and habitats and about how to respect the environment, according to a statement from the scouts.

According to the scouts, the boys also learned a bit about their own endurance, pushing themselves beyond their limits while hiking between 2-4 miles, depending upon their age.

Pack 170 leaders are still looking for members in grades K-5, according to the scouts. Anyone interested in joining should attend their next open meeting on Dec. 14.
