The first meeting for Innovate Westchester is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 2, at 5:30 p.m., with a brief talk led by one of the county's leading edge researchers, David Putrino.

Putrino, director of telemedicine and virtual rehabilitation at the Burke Medical Research Institute, will present a discussion titled, “Digital Health and Telemedicine: New frontiers in patient assessment and rehabilitation.”

“We heard the message loud and clear at our Health Tech ’14: Fueling Innovation in Westchester conference: there is no forum like this for the health tech community,” said Marissa Brett, WCA president. “When we formed our Accelerate Westchester meetup group for entrepreneurs last spring, we built on the WCA’s long history of serving as an advocate for the business community. Now, Innovate Westchester will foster collaboration and invention among Westchester’s scientists and researchers, leading to growth in the health tech innovation sector, which is our ultimate goal.”

The network is an invitation-only group, with meetings taking place every other month.

“The advances in Westchester are astounding,” said Putrino. “From telehealth, to biotech, integrated health, mobile health, biomedical research, and more, there’s so much going on in Westchester. I’m pleased to be a part of starting this first collaborative forum for the innovation community, where everyone can meet to share ideas and expertise.”

Scientists and researchers who are interested in attending Innovate Westchester meetings may contact Joelle DiNardi at the Westchester County Association at 914-948-6444.
