Visiting Nurse Westchester Honors White Plains Hospital, Mutual Of America

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester will honor White Plains Hospital and Mutual of America at its May 19 gala.

The fundraiser will be an opportunity for the VNSW to showcase its work and present awards.

White Plains Hospital will receive the Community Leadership Award, accepted by Susan Fox, President & CEO. The hospital provides "exceptional healthcare to the community with expert physicians, highly trained staff and state-of-the-art equipment," said a release. 

 

Mutual of America will receive the Distinguished Leadership Award, accepted by Brian Q. Severin, Executive Vice President. 

The company "has a long tradition of corporate social responsibility, beginning with its founding as a provider of retirement plan services to the nonprofit sector," said a release. Employees participate in charitable activities and the company established the "Community Partnership Award" in 1996, to recognize and encourage partnerships among "public, private, and social sector organizations devoted to the public good."

Westchester resident, Michael Gargiulo, Anchor at NBC 4 New York, will serve as emcee.

Karen Herrero, a VNSW Board Member, and her husband, Peter Herrero, Jr., co-owners of the NY Hospitality Group in White Plains, are co-chairing the event. The couple, Scarsdale residents, has been recognized for their numerous philanthropic efforts and recently received the Association of Development Officers “Community Partner of the Year.” 

In addition to the awards ceremony, the event will feature a silent auction, gourmet dinner stations, and a "sweet treats" ice cream bar. 

Proceeds from VNSW’s Gala will support a wide range of programs for residents of Westchester, the Bronx, Dutchess, Putnam and Rockland counties.
