Pound Ridge To Host Invasive Species Forum

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge’s Hiram Halle Library will host the spring forum for The Invasives Project, a group whose mission is to protect the town’s natural beauty, preserve its wildlife habitat, prevent the degradation of the natural surroundings and limit the spread of invasive species.

The discussion, “How to Stop the Spread, Spread the Word, Manage Invasive Plants,” will feature a half-dozen panelists, including:

  • Marc Bellaud, the aquatic biologist who developed and implemented the aquatic management plan for the Lake Kitchawan Conservation Committee.
  • Pound Ridge residents James and Ellen Best, who live on the property formerly owned by Sara Stein, author of “Noah’s Garden: Restoring the Ecology of Our Own Backyards.”
  • The Westchester Land Trust’s David Emerson, an expert in land management.
  • Linda Rohleder, of the Lower Hudson Partnerships for Regional Invasive Species Management.
  • Janelle Hope Robbins, executive director of the Bedford Audubon Society and moderator of the evening’s discussion.

The event takes place Sunday, March 10, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at The Hiram Halle Library, Westchester Avenue, Pound Ridge.
