Pound Ridge Seminar Focuses On Injury Prevention

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- The Pound Ridge Library will present a new seminar, Health Conscious -- Body Smart, on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m.

This seminar will be presented by Steven D’Ambroso, director of Bedford Access Physical Therapy & Wellness. 

Health Conscious -- Body Smart is a program for adults who want to learn more about injury prevention and healing, body mechanics and habits, and workplace safety. 

Topics will include unspecified injuries; posture and lifting habits; twisting and pivoting motions; icing or heat application for injuries; sport smarts for kids and teens; resting sports injuries; stretching before or after exercise; stretches for injuries; good mechanics vs. bad mechanics; workplace safety; and questions and answers on specific injuries, musculoskeletal issues and other related topics. 

A light meal including appetizers, snacks and beverages will be served at this event. 

D’Ambroso earned his doctorate in physical therapy from Mercy College. He also worked at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, where he has had extensive experience in specialized areas such as traumatic brain injury/spinal dord and post- knee/hip replacement therapy. 

He is an adjunct teacher/professor for orthopedic-based classes, modalities and pain management interventions.
