POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- As we age, it only makes sense that we need to be healthier and keep in shape in order to live a long life.
That's why the Pound Ridge Library will hold a new seminar, Health Conscious ~ Body Smart, for adults of all ages at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Steven D’Ambroso, director of the Bedford Access Physical Therapy & Wellness, is geared for adults who want to learn more about injury prevention and healing, body mechanics and habits, and workplace safety.
It is ideal for parents; sports enthusiasts, both young & old; and all adults interested in learning more about physical wellness and healing.
Topics will include 1) unspecified Injuries; 2) Posture & Lifting Habits; 3) Twisting and Pivoting Motions; 4) Icing or Heat-application for Injuries; 5) Sport Smarts for Kids and Teens; 6) Resting Sports Injuries; 7) Stretching Before or After Exercise; 8) Stretches for Injuries; 9) Good Mechanics vs. Bad Mechanics; 10) Workplace Safety; and 11) Questions and Answers on Specific Injuries, Musculoskeletal Issues, and other related topics.
A light meal including appetizers, snacks and beverages will be served at the event.
D’Ambroso earned his doctorate of physical therapy from Mercy College. He also worked at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital where he has had extensive experience in specialized areas such as traumatic brain injury/spinal cord and post- knee/hip replacement therapy. As a physical therapist, his focus is utilizing physical therapy and his fitness and Marital arts background to help people bridge the gap between rehabilitation and a full return to sport/recreational activity. He is an adjunct teacher/professor for orthopedic-based classes, modalities and pain management interventions.
