POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – The Pound Ridge Library will cap off a yearlong celebration of its 60th anniversary with a party and open house on Saturday.

The event, which will be held 3-6 p.m., was originally scheduled for Nov. 3, but was postponed in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The celebration will include something for the whole family.

“There will be lots of kids’ activities,” said Library Director Marilyn Tinter. “There will be face painting, stories and games – and course, there will be a cake.”

Live music will be provided by the Purchase College Jazz Studies Program under the direction of Pound Ridge resident Pete Malinverni.

There will also be wine and snacks available and Tinter said local dignitaries such as Town Supervisor Gary Warshauer and County Legislator Peter Harckham will drop by.

The library has been celebrating its 60th anniversary all year long with a series of events called “Building Together – Growing Together,” which included a series of panel discussions and a community read. Tinter said that this Saturday’s event will be the “icing on the cake.”

Eyemacatluvr:

Our house was exactly one mile up Route 124 (then just South Salem Road) from the Library. When we grew too old for naps, my Mom wisely "made" us read for an hour after lunch during the summer as a relaxation cool-down. It worked and I learned to love to read. I can't estimate how many of those miles I walked up to the Library for books but the memories are fond ones. (as are the additional little treks up the Shellings for a candy bar sometimes!) Thank you Pound Ridge Library, School, Park, - just Pound Ridge in general for giving me thoughts to look back on that always bring a smile to my face. Congratulations Pound Ridge Library!
