POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- The Pound Ridge Historical Society's annual meeting will kick off the opening of its new exhibit, "The Reservation: A Place for the Ages."
The exhibit is set to open at the museum on Sunday, April 27, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thereafter, it is open Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The exhibit covers the history of the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation from geological and human aspects. Through artifacts and historic photos of the first inhabitants, to farmers and people of commerce, to the people who molded the park, to the past and current programs offered to the public, the exhibit will show the community how "Rez" is an asset.
There will be several pieces of vintage taxidermy of animals of the reservation on display. The collection on exhibit is borrowed largely from the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation's Trailside Museum and is sourced from "Images of America: Ward Pound Ridge Reservation" by Beth Herr and Maureen Koehl, as well as "Historic Notes on the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation 1640-1940" by Phillip A. Pessoni.
Admission to the exhibit is free. Gratuities and memberships are accepted.
The exhibit runs from Sunday, April 27 through Sunday, Nov. 30.
