POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- The Pound Ridge Historical Society has mounted its 2015 exhibit, which examines the role of Hiram Halle’s pivotal role in developing the Westchester County hamlet.

“A New Look: Hiram Halle’s Life and Legacy” runs from 2-4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through November at the Pound Ridge Historical Society, 255 Westchester Ave.

Halle was an American businessman, inventor and collector, as well as a philanthropist, humanitarian and rescuer of Jewish scholars and families.

After selling off his Universal Oil Products company for $25 million in 1931, Halle spent his days involved in humanitarians endeavors  such as “University in Exile,” a program that brought persecuted German scholars specializing in social sciences to The New School in New York City. Halle’s pledge of $120,000 to the University is the equivalent of approximately $1.8 million today.

Private tours are also available. For more information, visit poundridgehistorical.org or call (914) 764-4333.
