Units from Pound Ridge, Katonah, Bedford, and Bedford Hills will play at Bedford Village Memorial Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in an event that is sure to be competitive and entertaining.

"100 percent of the proceeds are going to the burn center to help those victims who've suffered injuries in fires," said Justin Brent, a Pound Ridge firefighter. "It's going to be a great day for a great cause and should be a lot of fun." The event is supported by the Bedford-Armonk Rotary Club but it will be more than a softball game as children will be able to get to see and explore the fire trucks at the park. It will also give the firefighters a chance to build some camaraderie outside their respective stations. "We spend a lot of time here doing detail and going out on calls," said Sean Carmody, captain of the Bedford Fire Department. "It'll be a great recreational activity to bring everybody together." With the fire departments in close proximity and firefighters so familiar with one another, bragging rights are sure to be on the line. "We don't have any bets going on or anything like that, but we will kick their tails," said Brent. Added Carmody. "It's going to be competitive and everybody is going to want to win their games. But the most important thing will be raising money for burn victims and the center."
