NWH's Khabie To Discuss Concussions And Youth Athletes

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Dr. Victor Khabie, chief of surgery at Northern Westchester Hospital, will present at an education session, "Concussions and The Youth Athlete" on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m at Northern Westchester Hospital.

Khabie will present on defining a concussion, the signs and symptoms of a concussion, on-field management of head injuries, and what coaches, athletic trainers and parents need to know about concussion management in the acute setting.

This discussion, part of the hospital’s ongoing speaker series, will focus on sports and recreation-related brain injuries, specifically concussions, among children and adolescents. Parents, coaches and athletic trainers are all encouraged to attend.

Khabie, a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, is chief of surgery and chief of sports medicine at  Northern Westchester Hospital, where he also serves as the co-director of the Orthopaedic and Spine Institute.

He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, followed by an internship in general surgery at the New York University School of Medicine, where he currently is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition, he is a Diplomat of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and possesses the Subspecialty Certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and American College of Surgeons.
