New Rochelle Schools Family University Focuses On Marijuana Education

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Parents and students will gather for New Rochelle Schools' sixth annual Family University Monday to discuss marijuana education on what's popularly referred to as 4/20, or National Weed Day.

Family University will be from 6-9:15 p.m.at New Rochelle High School, 265 Clove Road.

Family University brings together middle and high school students and their parents for an evening of workshops addressing adolescent development. Parent workshops include navigating relationships with teenagers and increasing awareness of their children’s digital footprint.

Sessions for students include managing peer pressure and curbing sexual assault. Leading national substance abuse expert, Michael Nerney, will give the keynote address.

Nerney will discuss marijuana use and the risks it poses to normal social, cognitive and physical development of the adolescent brain.

Family University is run in partnership with New Rochelle FOCUS (Families Organized to Curb the Use of Substances) and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
