The walk is called "Hidden Habitats of the Southern Preserve." It is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 2 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

"Habitats include hidden meadows, vernal pools, streams and deep Hemlock forest," Mianus River Gorge announced it a statement. "The rock outcroppings of this undulating topography provide ideal habitat for bobcats and other rare wildlife."

Mianus River Gorge describes the walk as "modest hike of less than a mile." It also advises participants to wear walking shoes and to bring water.

Parking spaces, the preserve adds, are available on the southeast part of the road near 14 Mianus River Road.

Mianus River Gorge includes tracts of land in the towns of Bedford and North Castle. Its main entrance is located on the Bedford side, where the hike will take place.
