“There were no signs of intoxication or drugs or bad driving,” Fairview Detective Capt. Martin Kahn told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The woman, in her late 50s, was struck just after 3:30 p.m. by a car driven by North Bergen woman, also in her 50s, who was turning onto Bergen Boulevard from Kennedy Drive near The Point diner.
Emergency workers struggled to resuscitate the woman, who was pronounced dead at Palisades General Medical Center.
Authorities in Union City were trying to make notification to the dead woman’s family late this afternoon.
The incident was being investigated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Unit — including a Fairview officer assigned to the squad — while evidence was collected by the county Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification.
