Volunteers are needed to plan the first Relay for Life event on Saturday, June 6, 2015. The relay is the largest fundraiser for cancer research and patient programs in the world.

Teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track. Entertainment, music and fun activities help raise funds. Participants include cancer survivors, family and friends of survivors and people who just want to support the cause.

The success of the event requires many volunteers for leadership roles and other assorted tasks.  Representatives from the American Cancer Society will be at the Nov. 18 meeting to provide information.

Students interested in fulfilling community service are welcome.

The event was also held at Fox Lane in 2007.
