PALISADES PARK, N.J. -- Palisades Park Mayor James Rotundo says budget issues have been identified which can result in a total tax levy reduction of $275,000.

After an in-depth review of the failed school budget the mayor and council found the tax increase was too large and didn't adequately address much-needed infrastructure issues. They also identified $85,000 in additional projected revenue and reduced $190,500 what they characterized as unnecessary or redundant spending increase.

"We found several areas where the school administration had underestimated the revenue coming in and overestimated the amount to be spent," Rotundo said. "It's a classic example of lazy budgeting that ends up costing the taxpayers.

"We worked hard to ensure no programs, faculty or staff would need to be eliminated or negatively affected."
