Mayor Michael Cindrich confirmed a Bareburger will fill the space and that there had been a slow down on the work, but did not know when construction would resume.
Meanwhile, construction workers were seen working at the site as recently as this Monday.
Viktor Solarik, an architect for the project, did not respond to a message seeking comment.
Bareburger has all of the approvals that it needs from Mount Kisco, it was noted at a village board meeting when the stoppage came up for discussion.
Bareburger currently has 43 locations, including restaurants in Rye and Hartsdale and Ridgefield, Conn.
Friendly's closed the Mount Kisco restaurant in September, 2014.
Bareburger was founded by Euripedies Pelekanos and four friends in 2009. The friends were on the hunt for a restaurant in New York City that served a great hamburger and catered to people with alternative diets. The first restaurant opened in Astoria.
Bareburger buys its ingredients from local farms and offer a variety of burgers made out of bison, duck, wild boar and sweet potatoes, according to Anthony Roman, a company spokesman. The rolls and french fries are gluten free, Roman said.
